Most trade show stands are built for landfill. This one wasn’t. For Money20/20 Amsterdam, KK STUDIO worked with a team of designers, architects and producers at Space&Matter and Fiction Factory to design a stand that wasn’t just sustainable in theory—it was circular by design.
Conference stands are usually an exercise in waste—built fast, used for a few days, then scrapped. For Cogo’s presence at Money20/20, we wanted to break that cycle.
We designed a fully circular stand, where the circularity of every element used was carefully considered. Walls were built from reclaimed modular wooden panels designed by We Are Mast (previously exhibited at Milan Design Week), tabletops from 100% recycled plastic (The Good Plastic Company), soft furnishings from recycled felt (i-DID), and lighting sourced from reimagined construction waste (S-44). We cut emissions by 67% compared to a standard exhibition stand and 88.4% of the materials were reintegrated into the supply chain.
More than just a sustainable build, the stand was an immersive space. A soundscape of Aotearoa (NZ) red-listed birds played throughout, grounding the experience in the our intentions of creating a space to reconnect with the natural world.
